While the Somali Regional Administration has yet to release details regarding the agenda of the visit, the trip highlights ongoing diplomatic engagement among Somalia, Djibouti, and Ethiopia—three key partners in security coordination and economic cooperation in the Horn of Africa.
Last week, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud did not attend events in Addis Ababa marking the 90th anniversary of the Ethiopian Air Force.
Officials familiar with the plans had indicated that the Somali president and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed were expected to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of those celebrations.
The current visit to Ethiopia would mark President Hassan Sheikh’s ninth trip to the country since the start of his second term nearly four years ago.
