Khamenei Strikes Defiant Tone as Iran-U.S. Negotiations Continue
Iranian Leader Khamenei Issues Defiant Message Amid Ongoing Negotiations The message comes amid a tense standoff between Iran and the United States, as negotiations continue for a possible diplomatic settlement of the war.
Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a strong message during Hajj celebrations, urging Muslims worldwide to unite against the United States and Israel, while declaring that anti-American and anti-Israeli slogans would increasingly rally supporters across the Muslim world and beyond.
In his address, Khamenei portrayed Iran’s confrontation with Washington and Israel as part of a broader historic struggle, crediting faith and resistance for helping Iran and its allies withstand foreign pressure. He claimed Tehran had weakened Israel and dealt a blow to the United States during recent hostilities, while praising Iran-backed groups and allied fighters in Lebanon for their battlefield gains.
He also called on Muslim-majority nations to distance themselves from U.S. military influence and described Israel as a declining power nearing its end.

The remarks come as Iran, the United States, and Israel remain engaged in delicate negotiations following months of conflict that included attacks on Iranian military and nuclear sites, Iranian retaliation, and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. While a ceasefire has mostly held, talks continue over a proposed agreement aimed at ending hostilities and setting the stage for future diplomacy.
U.S. President Donald Trump said discussions with Tehran were progressing positively but warned that military options remained possible if negotiations failed. Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed that position, stressing that Washington would not agree to an unfavorable deal.
Although details of the proposed framework remain uncertain, Iranian officials say it focuses on ending the conflict, easing sanctions, and restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while postponing disputes over Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile for later talks.
Analysts remain divided over the outcome of the U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran. Supporters argue Tehran’s military capabilities were significantly weakened, while critics contend Iran has preserved key leverage, particularly its influence over global energy routes and its ability to endure sustained pressure.
