Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro) held high-level talks with the Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), Major General Claude K. Tudor Jr., focusing on security cooperation, Red Sea stability, and regional peace in the Horn of Africa.
The meeting, which brought together senior officials from both sides, centered on enhancing collaboration in security and defense, with particular attention given to protecting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden—two waterways that have become increasingly significant due to their role in global trade and regional security.
President Cirro welcomed Major General Tudor and the accompanying U.S. delegation, thanking them for visiting Somaliland and describing the engagement as an important milestone in expanding cooperation between the two sides.
According to Somaliland officials, the discussions focused on ways to improve coordination on security matters, strengthen efforts to combat emerging threats, and promote lasting stability across the Horn of Africa. Both delegations also examined the importance of safeguarding maritime routes that carry a substantial portion of international commerce.
The Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden have attracted growing international attention in recent years because of persistent security concerns, including piracy, terrorism, arms trafficking, and attacks on commercial shipping.
